Cave projects underway

 

Doghole Cave, Haverbrack.

The archaeology of Doghole Cave, Haverbrack, in Southern Cumbria is being investigated by a team from Liverpool John Moores University. Further details can be found on the project website.

Helsfell Fissure, Kendal

The site of Helsfell Fissure, near Kendal, was excavated in the late 19th Century by Mr John Beecham. The historyof the excavation and subsequent fate of the material from this cave has been investigated by Dr Dave Wikinson, Tom Clare and Dr Hannah O'Regan from Liverpool John Moores University. The results of this study were published in December 2008 in The Naturalist. Further information on this project can be found on the LJMU website.
